About Distil
Distil is an R&D-driven platform simplifying specialty chemicals sourcing. Founded by IIT Bombay alumni Atanu Agarrwal and Viraj Shah in 2024, this brand acts as a bridge by providing high-performance chemicals to companies across three core areas, personal care, advanced polymer solutions, and flavors and fragrances.
The model is asset-light. Distil manages the R&D, formulation, quality control, and supply chain coordination. Clients receive comprehensive partnership without having to invest capital to develop those capabilities internally. The team consists of 20 highly-skilled specialists ranging from PhDs, MScs, and engineers, who previously worked at Dow, BASF, L’Oreal, Huntsman, and Reliance Industries.
By mid-2024, Distil had closed a seed round of $3 million. By early 2026, a Series A at $7.7 million. North America expansion followed. When we started the website build, none of that story existed anywhere online. There was no site, no digital presence, and no time to waste.
Goal of the Design
Distil was post-seed and building toward its Series A when the website work started. Investors were going to look at the site. Enterprise buyers in North America were going to look at the site. Potential manufacturing partners were going to look at the site. It had to be ready for all three, at the same time, from day one.
The platform choice was Webflow. The Distil team needed to own and update content after launch without raising a developer ticket every time a press article went live. The build needed to be done right the first time, with a component system and CMS architecture that could carry the site into the Series A period and beyond without starting over.
- Build a complete B2B website from scratch:9 pages covering the homepage, three product vertical pages, a partner acquisition page, contact, resources, and legal pages, all built in Webflow with no prior site or design system to work from.
- Architect a CMS the team can manage without developers: three structured collections (Resources, Services, Testimonials), with the Resources hub built for independent publishing of press coverage and thought leadership, complete with dynamic SEO meta binding per item.
- Architect a CMS the team can manage without developers: three structured collections (Resources, Services, Testimonials), with the Resources hub built for independent publishing of press coverage and thought leadership, complete with dynamic SEO meta binding per item.
- Build once, reuse everywhere: shared Webflow components for nav, footer, cards, and section blocks, developed before any page work began, so consistency across all 9 pages was structural rather than visual guesswork.
- Configure the full technical setup: The configuration involves a five-domain configuration, with distil.market and four domain aliases, along with Responsive layouts that work across desktops, tablets, mobile platforms. Moreover, SEO metadata is integrated across static and CMS-driven pages.
Challenges
Building a complete website from nothing for a company moving at startup speed requires getting a lot of structural decisions right early. These were the ones that mattered:
Two Countries, One Leadership Team:
- With the UK business headquartered in Rickmansworth and the Canadian operation based in Toronto, getting a consistent view of what was happening across both markets was difficult. Time zones didn’t help. Neither did having no shared system to look at.
Three Product Verticals, One Coherent Site:
- Personal care chemistry, advanced polymer solutions, and flavours and fragrances are different markets with different audiences and different technical depth. Each vertical page had to feel specific to its sector without drifting visually or structurally away from the rest of the site. The same component had to flex for vertical-specific content without breaking.
A Resources Hub the Client Can Actually Run:
- A specialty chemicals company should not need a developer to publish a press article or add a thought leadership piece. The Resources section required a CMS built for genuine independence: structured field schemas, category filtering between content types, thumbnail and date handling, and dynamic SEO meta pulled from CMS fields automatically.
Two Build Phases, One Visual System:
- The website came together in two phases, once during the Seed round in 2024 and then during the Series A round in 2026. Design consistency mattered during this 18-month period, achieved through a self-documenting component architecture. In its absence, the second phase would have transformed into a partial rebuild instead of a clean extension.
Our Approach
Discover
Before any page was built, we mapped the full site architecture and the audiences arriving at it. Distil’s site is not a single-audience product. A global brand procurement manager landing on the Personal Care page is looking for different things than an investor reading through the leadership section or a manufacturing partner evaluating the Partner With Us page.
Three distinct entry points shaped the information hierarchy from the start:
- Buyers arriving through product vertical pages, looking for capabilities, formulation depth, and application scope specific to their sector
- Partners and suppliers landing on the partner acquisition page, evaluating the commercial model and the value of a Distil relationship
- Investors and press reading through the homepage, the team section, the news cards, and the funding milestone timeline to assess credibility and trajectory
Getting the information hierarchy right for all three audiences, on a site that had to feel like one coherent product, determined everything that followed. For more on how we approach B2B web design at this level of complexity, see our work for Nexford University.
Define: Component Architecture and CMS Design
The structural decision that shaped the entire build was building components before pages. Nav, footer, feature cards, team cards, news cards, and industry segment blocks were all developed as reusable Webflow components before a single product vertical page was started.
This component-first approach, central to our process for any website design and development project at scale, meant that when the three vertical pages were built, each one drew from the same shared system. Consistency across the site became a structural guarantee rather than a visual effort at the end of the project.
For the CMS, we designed three collections with structured field schemas. The Resources collection was built specifically for team independence. The Distil team can add press coverage, select its content category, publish it, and have the dynamic SEO meta title and description pulled automatically from CMS fields without touching Webflow’s designer interface.
Multi-domain configuration covered five domains. Development across all nine pages was built with breakpoint-level layout adjustments for desktop, tablet, and mobile, with Webflow’s native interaction system handling hero entrance animations, scroll-triggered section reveals, and navigation states.
Design Highlights

Distil’s visual identity has the sole job of communicating the brand’s credibility through a message. The message being that a team of IIT Bombay founders with Dow, BASF, and L’Oreal veterans are behind the company, and it is not a legacy chemical distributor from 2009. It has to balance technical depth and clarity at every stage.
Distil’s homepage depicts this journey, mapping all the company milestones from 2024 to 2026 (Seed to Series A) to North American expansion, as well as the development of Webflow components.
The investor logo ticker, looping five logos in a horizontal marquee, and the five-card leadership section with name and title property overrides were each built as reusable components, so adding a sixth team member or investor does not require touching the underlying structure.
The completed build delivered:
- 9 fully published and live Webflow pages across distil.market and four alias domains, covering the homepage, three product vertical pages, partner acquisition, contact, resources hub, and two legal pages
- 3 CMS collections live with structured schemas. The Resources collection is fully populated with 34 published items across press coverage and thought leadership categories, all manageable by the Distil team post-handoff
- A shared Webflow component library covering Nav, Footer, Feature Cards, Team Cards, News Cards, and Industry Segment blocks, all built with property overrides for consistent rendering without duplicated markup
- A shared Webflow component library covering Nav, Footer, Feature Cards, Team Cards, News Cards, and Industry Segment blocks, all built with property overrides for consistent rendering without duplicated markup
Distil launched its Series A with a production-grade website in place. Investor-ready, partner-ready, and buyer-ready from the first visit. The delivered site gives Distil:
- Built for Credibility: A credible, production-grade digital presence that clearly communicates Distil’s expertise across three specialty chemical verticals—helping investors, partners, and buyers quickly understand the business.
- Always Up to Date: A fully managed Resources Hub with 34+ published articles empowers the internal team to add content, update resources, and publish media independently without developer support.
- Built for Growth:A flexible, component-based website architecture makes it easy to launch new product pages, industry verticals, content types, and sections without rebuilding the website.

Final Product Showcase
Nine published pages. A CMS the client team runs without help. A component library built to carry the site through the next three years of growth. And a site that was live in time for a Series A close.
Distil is not a template project. It’s a company with a specific technical story, a specific investor audience, and a specific growth timeline. The website had to reflect all of that. What we built is a production-grade B2B website on Webflow that does the job a corporate digital presence is supposed to do: earns credibility before anyone picks up the phone.
We take the same approach to every B2B website design and development project. Structure first, components before pages, CMS built for the people who will manage it after we leave. You can see that thinking in our work for SmartMoving and in the LoudMouse marketing website redesign, where the same principle applies: build something the team can actually own.
